Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, né Llhamo Döndrub (Tibetan: ལྷ་མོ་དོན་འགྲུབ་), was born on 6 July 1935 in Qinghai (China). He is the 14th and current Dalai Lama. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, honorary Canadian citizenship in 2006, and the United States Congressional Gold Medal in 2007.
